Players of the Week

Posted Sep 26, 2011

The Vanderbilt Commodores fell to South Carolina, 21-3, on Saturday. Each week honors an offensive, defensive, and unsung hero of the game. Look inside to see which players get honored this week.

OFFENSE: Jonathan Krause

Krause, a sophomore wide receiver from Snellville, Ga., caught nine passes for 55 yards including a team long reception of 20 yards. Through four games Krause is currently Vanderbilt's leading receiver with 15 receptions for 80 yards.

DEFENSE: Chase Garnham

Garnham, a sophomore linebacker from Fairhope, Ala., finished the game with 10 tackles including eight solo stops. Garnham and his teammates held star South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore to 77 yards rushing, which is the fewest rushing yards allowed to Lattimore of any Gamecock opponent in 2011.

East, a redshirt sophomore linebacker-long snapper from Indianapolis, Indiana. In the fourth quarter East made a key tackle of South Carolina punt returner Ace Sanders which resulted in no gain on the return.
