Vanderbilt, led by Zac Stacy who gained 184 rushing yards for three touchdowns, piled up over 480 yards of total offense in beating Wake Forest 41-7. The win improved the Commodores' record to 6-6 and qualified the team for its second bowl in four years and fifth in the program's history.

Vanderbilt scored on all four posessions of the first half to take a 27-7 halftime lead.

Brandon Barden caught a 73-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to give Vandy a 20-7 lead. After making the catch, Barden hurdled over a Demon Deacon defender and then stiff armed another on the way to the end zone.

The Vandy lead swelled to 34-7 in the third quarter when Larry Smith, who had entered the game as a wide out, connected to Jordan Matthews on a 45-yard bomb.

Vanderbilt has participated in four bowls in its history including the 2008 Music City; 1982 Hall of Fame; 1975 Peach; 1955 Gator. Vanderbilt has a 2-1-1 all-time record in bowls.
