Freshman guard Kady Schrann scored a career-high 29 points, and sophomore post Stephanie Holzer contributed a double double of 18 points and 15 rebounds as Vanderbilt defeated the LSU Lady Tigers 81-72 Sunday afternoon in Memorial Gym. With the victory, Vanderbilt improves to 16-5 on the season (4-4 in the SEC).

Sunday afternoon's game was Vanderbilt's annual "Pink Out" in conjunction with the WBCA's initiative to promote awareness of breast cancer nationally. The team wore special uniforms and shoes for the occasion, and many of the fans and athletic staff in attendance also wore pink.

When LSU decided to focus their defense on Christina Foggie, who is currently the leading scorer in the SEC, someone else had to step up to carry the scoring load. Freshman Kady Schrann answered the bell, scoring 29 points by shooting 11-15 from the field (including 3-5 from 3-point range) and 4-4 from the free throw line.

Jasmine Lister played 40 minutes, scored 12 points, and lead the team in assists with seven.

Vanderbilt led the entire game, although LSU frequently came within one point during the first half. However, whenever that happened, Vanderbilt always had an answer, including a pair of free throws from Jordan Coleman in the first half.

At halftime local Girl Scouts joined the Vanderbilt Dance Line for a performance on the court.

Halftime also featured recognition of former 'Dores. Cherish Stringfield is now the varsity coach for the girls basketball team at Hillsboro High, and her team gave her a big cheer when she was introduced.

Stephanie Holzer scored 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
