Some Vandy Over/Unders for 2012

Well, I am sick of the baseball now, can football please come back? It gets to this point every summer where the days drag and the sport on TV is just not interesting enough. The football season is still frustratingly far into the distance, but with trickles of information coming out it seems like a good time to look at some of the..
..numbers the Commodores would like to hit to ensure a successful 2012 campaign. Today we are going to look at some of the offensive stats that
Vanderbilt
should be aiming for.
1)
Jordan Rodgers
throws for over 20 TDs
Under. I think Rodgers will get close to this number but end the season at 18 or so TD passes. After tossing for nine scores as a sophomore last season, many think Rodgers will look like a different QB in 2012. A full offseason and security as the starter will have Rodgers primed to explode if he can limit his mistakes. 2)
Jordan Matthews
breaks 800 yards receiving
Over. I have a sneaky suspicion Matthews is going to go off this year and think he could even break the 1000 mark if he stays healthy. Vandy avoids some of the monster defenses in the SEC (‘Bama,
Arkansas
, and
LSU
) and the Rodgers-to-Matthews connection will be able to tear apart weaker foes. I also expect Matthews to have at least one game where he touches 150 yards.
3)
Zac Stacy
has 1,200 total yards
Over. Stacy was a machine at times last year (see the Arkansas game for proof against top level competition) and he will only be improved now that Rodgers has a full year in the system to take the heat off of him. If he can improve his production receiving out of the backfield then 1,400 or 1,500 yards might be in reach in 2012. He will have monster games against the weaker teams on the schedule and can score from anywhere on the field.
