Players of the Week

Vanderbilt fell to Florida on Saturday. After each game names an offensive and defensive player of the week. We also name an unsung hero of the week. Look inside to see who gets the honors this week.

Wesley Tate, running back

Tate, a junior from Hendersonville, Tenn., rushed for 66 yards on 20 carries and had one reception. Tate averaged an impressive 6.6 yards per carry against a tough Gator defense and had the longest rushing gain of the game for Vandy (20 yards)

Karl Butler, linebacker

Butler, a junior from New Orleans, La., had five tackles in the game. He also made Vanderbilt's only sack of the game when he tackled Gator quarterback Jeff Driskel for a 4-yard loss in the first quarter.

Steven Scheu, tight end

Scheu, a redshirt freshman from Evansville, Ind., caught three passes during the game for 21 yards. Recommended Stories
