Dominic Walker is going to enjoy Christmas at home then the Orlando (Flor.) Evans wide receiver will hit the road. Walker will be playing in an All-American game and he leaves for Texas the day after Christmas.
“We are on Christmas break already,” Walker said. “I will be here for Christmas and then I leave on the 26th for the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. I am really looking forward to getting there.”
The All-American game is a bit of a measuring stick to see how you compare to the other players from around the nation. Walker isn’t putting a lot of pressure on himself though. He just wants to have fun.
“I am just looking forward to the competition and just go out there and have fun. I just want to go out there and do my thing in front of the fans.
“I have been thinking about really proving myself out there on the field with some of the nation’s best players. I know what I can do and am looking forward proving myself.”
Recruiting shuts down a little bit during the holidays, but Walker is ready to shut it down completely. Walker says that he is planning on announcing his commitment at the All-American Bowl and says that there is a clear leader for his services.
“I am going to make my commitment at the all-star game too,” Walker said. “I only took one official visit and that was to Nebraska. It’s fair to say that Nebraska is the leader for me.”
The Nebraska offense is one of the reasons why Walker is favoring the Huskers right now. They like to throw it to the receivers, they use a lot of receivers at one time and the Nebraska staff told Walker that he could potentially come in and play right away.
“They had a good offense and threw the ball pretty well this last season. They spread it out and they use a lot of receivers too in their offense.
“They have been telling me that I could play right away and that’s one thing that I am really looking for. They want me to come in, work and get me on the field early.”
Another reason Nebraska is so appealing is because the Husker coaches plan on using Walker in a lot of different ways. They see him outside and inside at the slot. They are also interested in giving him a look on special teams.
“I do kick off returns too and Nebraska has talked to me about doing a lot of different things. They like me as a wide receiver and as a slot. They said that I could do both.”
