Michael Sawyers commits to Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt picked up another big time commit on Wednesday when Ensworth high school's Michael Sawyers announced he would be a Commodore. The commitment is the twelfth of the 2014 VU signing class and comes despite the recent dismissal of four players from the Vanderbilt program.

Vanderbilt was the first to offer the 6-foot-3, 295 pound Sawyers. Sawyers earlier spoke with VandyMania.com about Vandy, which was the first school to offer the two way lineman.

"Vanderbilt has a great education," said Sawyers. "Academics are the first thing I look at when I'm checking out a college even before football. The next thing is the bond I have with the coaches. Coach Franklin has turned things around at Vanderbilt and has a great coaching staff."

In addition to Vandy, Sawyers also had offers from Arizona State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami (Fla.), Nebraska, Louisville, North Carolina State, Kentucky, Ole Miss and others.
