PETE'S PIGSKIN PROGNOSTICATIONS

Early to bed, early to rise, and your girl goes out with other guys. The SEC schedule is still in warm-up mode, but there are a few games of note available for our viewing pleasure. But first let's deal with the small muffin cakes topped with frosting:

WEEK 2
LAST WEEK (10-3)-----OVERALL (10-3)

The SEC schedule is still in warm-up mode, but there are a few games of note available for our viewing pleasure. But first let's deal with the small muffin cakes topped with frosting:

The SEC is on notice with the 7 FCS teams winning against FBS competition last week. No surprises from this bunch. Most are pick the score kind of games.

Samford @ Arkansas – Arkansas 42 – Samford 7

Arkansas State @ Auburn – Could be close, but not likely. Plainsmen 35 ASU 14

Miami (OH) @ Kentucky – Kentucky gets what may be the first of only two wins think season. Big Blew 28 – Miami 10

UAB @ LSU – LSU 42 – UAB 14

SEMO @ Mississippi – Mississippi 54 – SEMO 3

Austin Peay @ Vandy – The Commodores should be ready to pound someone after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory last week. APSU has a great slogan (Let's Go Peay) and little else, and has been softened up nicely by the big orange. Vandy 52 – Govs 10

Alcorn State @ Mississippi State – MSU 31 – Alcorn St. 10

Toledo @ Missouri – Missouri 38 – Toledo 7

Sam Houston State @ Texas A&M – Here's a chance to see the biggest punk in college football. Autographers 54 – Sam Houston 0.

None of the above games figure to be close, but these three could be really entertaining games;

Western Kentucky @ UTK – Butch Jones is turning UTK around by stealing attitude and dedication from James Franklin's playbook. He couldn't have a better role model. UTK 27 – WKU 14

South Carolina @ Georgia – Neither team was impressive in their respective openers. We'll see how each coaching staff manages to shore up their deficiencies. Georgia has more innate talent available, and has the advantage of playing at home. Dawgs 27 – Chickens 20

Florida @ Miami – The Gators were singularly unimpressive last week against Toledo. On the other hand, Miami has national championship aspirations. The Weather Channel tells me that there has not been a significant hurricane yet this season. Batten the hatches, Florida. Miami 31 – Florida 28
