WEEK 9
LAST WEEK (1-5)-----OVERALL (58-12)

Bring back the breathers and cupcakes. Heaven knows this picker could use a few easy ones. Ragnarök came to the SEC last week, and only one favorite was left standing. Fortunately, according to the Norse myth, the world will be reborn, and so will the unfortunate victims of the downtrodden. At least there a few sure winners on the slate this week.

Kentucky @ Mississippi State – This is basically a struggle between two cupcakes. UK fans are already focused on the impending basketball season, so football is irrelevant to them. Not so for MSU. Bulldogs 24 – Mildcats 14

Furman @ LSU – I have no fear about picking this one. Tigers 51 – Paladins 3

Florida Atlantic @ Auburn – War Eagles are flying high after last week’s win vs. TAMU. They should take care of business here. Tigers 48 – Owls (Who?) 7

Idaho @ Mississippi – Same for Mississippi. Bears 55 – Spuds 6

South Carolina @ Missouri – South Carolina appeared to use up a season’s worth of mental and physical errors in one game against Tennessee last week. I think a little soul-searching will light a fire under them. Gamecocks 28 – Mizzou 20

Tennessee @ Alabama – Tennessee has been improving steadily week by week (brick by brick?). It would take about two years of improvement at the same rate, or 5 tons of bricks, for the big orange to have much of a chance against the Tide in Tuscaloosa. Closer than expected but still….. Alabama 31 – UTK 20

Vanderbilt @ Texas A&M – Quarterback uncertainties cloud the crystal ball for this game, but the result is not in doubt. A@M 45 – Commodores 28
