Vanderbilt and the University of Michigan are awaiting a decision from Massachusetts forward Kendric Price, who is expected to choose soon between the two schools after making official visits on successive weekends. Vanderbilt and the University of Michigan are awaiting a decision from Massachusetts forward Kendric Price, who is expected to choose soon between the two schools after making official visits on successive weekends.

Price, a 6-foot-8-1/2 forward from Cambridge, Mass. ranked No. 87 among TheInsiders.com National Top 100, visited Vanderbilt officially the weekend of Sept. 18 and was in Ann Arbor this past weekend for a second official visit. Price has also visited nearby Rhode Island unofficially. Ohio State and Purdue had also offered, but Purdue had withdrawn its offer.

A senior at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Price averaged 22.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and four blocked shots per game his junior season. The Commodores became interested in Price over the summer, when he played AAU basketball as a member of the New England Playaz team.

"I could not be more excited about the fact that he's got a couple of schools that have very strong academic reputations in addition to the basketball piece," said BB&N coach Lewis Bryant, who coached Price the last two years.

Vanderbilt, which has three scholarships to give for the class of 2005, already has one verbal commitment from shooting guard George Drake (6-3, Calera, Ala.). Besides Price, the Commodores would also like to add point guard J.P. Prince (6-7, Memphis-White Station), who has narrowed his choices to Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, Arizona, Florida and Memphis.

Prince, ranked No. 29 nationally by TheInsiders, visited Vanderbilt earlier this month and took an official visit to Arizona this past weekend. He is expected to delay his decision until much closer to the early signing period, Nov. 10-17.
