Vanderbilt wide receiver George Smith was shot in the arm at an on-campus party at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Nashville TV stations are reporting. Two other players, Reshard Langford and Derrius Dowell, were injured in the incident.
None of the injuries were described as life-threatening. All three players were treated and released by Vanderbilt Hospital, stations reported.
Smith, a freshman who had scored his first career touchdown a few hours earlier in Vanderbilt's 37-13 win over Richmond, was shot in the arm by someone who was not a Vanderbilt student, according to the reports. Langford is a redshirt freshman safety, while Dowell is a true freshman defensive lineman. As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made.
