VandyMania talked with Smryna offensive lineman James Williams who is headed to Vanderbilt. The massive lineman revealed why he picked Vanderbilt and how the coaches plan to utilize him at Vandy.

VandyMania: What are some of the things that attracted you to Vanderbilt?

James Williams: The atmosphere, it's a really nice school, they got to know me as a person; I wasn't just a number. The fact that it has such a great reputation of academics and being able to play in the best football conference, the SEC.

VM: What are some of the strengths of your game?

JW: Probably pass protection, I'm left handed and I have quick feet.

VM: What other schools recruited you?

JW: Auburn, Stanford, Tennessee, Harvard, Louisville, and Marshall University.

VM: What role did Adam Smotherman have in your recruitment to Vandy?

JW: We are really good friends. We hang out a lot all the time and work out together. Being able to play in college with a high school teammate is rare, not many people get to do that.
