HAVANA- Wednesday night Pedro Alvarez had 3 hits and a walk in 4 at bats as the USA defeated Mexico 12-5. It was just another night at the office for Alvarez who leads the USA Baseball with a .402 batting average.

Alvarez started out slow with USA baseball but has been a tear recently.

Against Mexico, Alvarez's RBI single in the third scored two runs for the Americans. An RBI single to right-center to tied the game in the fifth. In the sixth Alavarez had another RBI, this time on a double.

Alvarez, who some experts project would been the #1 pick if he were in the MLB draft, has 39 hits, 38 RBIs, and 19 walks in 97 at bats. He also has 5 homeruns and has stolen 9 bases in 9 attempts.

Team USA improved to 24-2-1 with the win. The US will close out the Pool B portion of the schedule Friday night against Chinese Taipei at 7:45 p.m. ET at Latino Stadium.
