Stokes, who's parents went to Vanderbilt, had visited Vandy over the spring, "That was a great visit. I have been to Vandy a few times, but this past spring was my first football visit. I got to meet some of the players this time, and I got to spend more time with their coaches. We sat down and watched some film. I like Vandy a lot. They have obviously struggled as a program recently, but they seemed pretty focused on getting better and having a winning season. It was a great visit," said Stokes.
Stokes had 70 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks and two fumble recoveries as a junior. "I blitz. I cover. I play like an outside linebacker," he explains. "I do come off the edge a lot. We face a lot of running offenses. You have to stop the run first around here. That's where I made most of my plays," said Stokes earlier to Scout.com.
The heavily recruited Stokes also had offers from Memphis, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee, Stanford, Michigan, Wake Forest, Colorado, and Virginia."
Stokes is an outstanding student who sports a 4.5 GPA and a 29 ACT.
Stokes is the Vanderbilt staff's tenth commitment of the 2007 recruiting season. Commitments are non-binding. National Signing Day is in February. For a complete list of Vanderbilt commits click HERE.
