Vanderbilt fell from the No. 1 ranking in most polls after it dropped a three game series at Arkansas this weekend. However, the Commodores are still ranked in the top 5 in most polls. Here's a look at what's going in Commodore/SEC baseball.

Vandy in the SEC

Vanderbilt is currently tied for third place in the SEC East with Georgia at 3-3.   Tennessee, Florida and South Carolina are all leading the division with 4-2 records.  The Commodores travel to Columbia this weekend for a vital 3 games series with the Gamecocks. Arkansas leads the west with a 4-2 record.  Auburn, who got off to a terrific regular season start, sits at the bottom of the west with a 0-6 record.  The Tigers were swept by Florida this past weekend and by Georgia during the first weekend of conference play.

The SEC in the RPI

Warren Nolan ranks Vanderbilt No. 3 in his latest College RPI Baseball Ratings. Other ratings of interest to SEC fans include South Carolina 1; Arkansas 6; Ole Miss 7; LSU 22; Mississippi State 31; Auburn 38; Kentucky 41; Florida 48; Alabama 79; Georgia 80 and Tennessee 140.

Minor getting major work

Vanderbilt freshmen Mike Minor, originally tabbed as a mid week starter, made an appearance during the Arkansas series and with good results.  Minor struck out 3 and walked none during 1 and 2/3 innings of work on Saturday when the Commodores captured a 6-3 win over the Razorbacks. Allowing a lead off homerun by the Hog's Danny Hamblin in the ninth was his only blemish.  Minor (3-0) has performed solidly so far this season, striking out 37 while allowing only 5 walks during 30 innings of work.

Dominic de la Osa has great week

Dominic de la Osa finished last week with a 7-for-17 batting performance including 3 hits during Sunday's series final against Arkansas. De la Osa currently has 30 hits in 90 at bats (.333) along with 6 homers.

MTSU on deck

Vanderbilt will host Middle Tennessee at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Hawkins Field.  It will be the first of three meetings with the Blue Raiders scheduled for this season. The Commodores are scheduled to visit Middle in Murfreesboro on April 18th and Raiders will return to the Hawk on May 8th.
