#10 EARL BENNETT
Earl Had a dominant night both receiving and as a punt returner.
Earl caught 13 passes for 233 yards (17.1 per catch) and 3TD’s including a beautiful 3rd quarter hook up with CN for a 49 yard TD and 3 returns for 63 yards. Earl showed the Commodore fans in attendance that he hasn’t lost a step and still has the skills that make him one of the best in the SEC and possibly one of the all time greats.
#17 D.J. MOORE
This one is tough. Curtis Gatewood, D.J. Moore and Jon Goff all played big roles in getting the big win tonight but in the end I will give this week’s award to Commodore standout cornerback DJ Moore. Moore was matched up most of the night on talented Richmond receiver #14 Arman Shields. Moore recorded an Interception and made several pass breakups in key situations. Number 17 wasn’t satisfied with just making big plays in the VU secondary. He also returned 3 kickoffs for 100 yards including a big 63 yard return which at the time killed the momentum Richmond had just built.
Unsung Hero Award
This one was surprisingly easy after I started watching this young man. Jake Bradford gets this one hands down. Commodore ball carriers will fall in love with the blocking skills of this big tight end. Jake didn’t have much involvement in the passing game tonight but his blocking alone was more than enough to get excited about.
Maybe we picked the wrong year to NOT play Michigan but a win is a win. Bring on Alabama. The Chris and Earl show will be waiting on them.
