Pete’s Pigskin Prognostications

Things were pretty much as expected for the the first cupcake week in the SEC. Only those teams unfortunate enough to have scheduled a ranked team for their suspension game bit the dust.

Week 2
(11-0, 11-0)
Frequently in error, never in doubt

For those of you who want to see picks against the spread, go elsewhere. For the rest of you.........

South Florida @ Auburn – The Plainsmen welcome a chance to work on their corrections after a lackluster performance vs Kansas State. Auburn by 21

Mississippi State @ Tulane – A good thing hurricane Felix stayed to the south. The water is deep enough for both of these programs as it is, but MSU can beat Tulane for at least one win this year. MSU by 15.

Troy @ Florida – I doubt the Trojans will be able to improve on the 20-point loss at Arkansas last week. Florida by 35.

South Carolina @ Georgia – Georgia has owned the Gamecocks lately and the Chickens didn’t exactly set the world afire against La-La last week. Dawgs by 12.

Kent State @ Kentucky – Another virtual compass point cupcake. Wildcats by 28.

Missouri @ Mississippi – A can’t MISS game (MISSissippi vs MISSouri...get it?) The names are about the only interesting thing in this game. Ole Miss could barely muster the firepower to beat Memphis. Missouri by 10.

LSU @ Virginia Tech – In order to not offend anyone. LSU by 15.

Southern Mississippi @ UTK – Looks like another season with no hope of national championship contention. Even with the Great Pumpkin giving big bucks to the school, can the big orange faithful stand much more of this? Ainge’s pinkie will not get much of a workout this week, as the Vols run the ball down the throat of the Golden Eagles. UTK by 31.

Alabama @ Vanderbilt – Despite beating Richmond handily last week, Vandy hardly inspired confidence. The experienced offensive line and running backs were largely infective against the Spiders It was Earl, Earl, and more Earl, and little else. SEC defenses know how to handle one dimensional teams, and right now that is what the Vandy team is. Alabama by 10.
