Pete’s Pigskin Prognostications

Top to bottom, I’ve never seen the SEC as unsettled as now. The top teams no longer dominate. Ole Miss, a loser to Vandy, gives the Gators fits. Miss. State beats Auburn, and barely gets by Gardner-Webb? Kentucky whacks Arkansas AT Arkansas? Can the much-looked for parity finally be coming to the SEC, where the usual order of things is “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”? Stay tuned.

Week 5
(6-1 last week, 30-5 overall
Frequently in error, never in doubt

For those of you who want to see picks against the spread, go elsewhere. For the rest of you.........

LSU @ Tulane – The Greenies are in big trouble. But they’ll be blue (and black) after the Bengal Tigers get done with them. LSU by 31.

Mississippi State @ South Carolina – The Evil Genius had some trouble last week at LSU. He may have some trouble this week as well, as MSU is beginning to play with more and more confidence, and the Chicken’s offense is in disarray. Coaching will pull this out for SC, but it won’t be easy. SC by 4.

Mississippi @ GeorgiaOle Miss played way over their heads last week against Florida. It shouldn’t happen again. Georgia by 17.

Florida Atlantic @ Kentucky – Woodson may be the best QB in the league. He could probably beat Florida Atlantic by himself. The UK defense may keep this one close for a while, but Woodson will eventually outscore Florida Atlantic. Wildcats by 24.

Florida State vs. Alabama – Alabama is still Alabama, and Florida State has more problems than you can reasonably shake a stick at. Tide by 14.

North Texas @ Arkansas – The Mean Green will be the same color as the Green Wave after this game is over. (Black and blue. Maybe a MEAN black and blue.) Darren McFadden could get 350 yards rushing if he plays the whole game. Pigs by 42.

Auburn @ Florida – Auburn is heading quickly down the tubes this season. The SEC West has only one really good team, and it ain’t the Tigers. Florida by 17.

Eastern Michigan @ Vandy – The Eastern Michigan Eagles missed a great chance at an unforgettable nickname by not adopting the emu as their mascot. Think of it...the EMU emus. That’s the only interesting part of this game. Vandy by 33.
