Pete’s Pigskin Prognostications

Driving back home from Washington, enjoying the UTK-Alabama game, I heard 5 Alabama players were suspended for a textbook scandal. “Textbook scandal?” I guess Saban found out some of his players had actually opened one the day before the game.

Week 9
(4-2 last week, 52-11 overall)
Frequently in error, never in doubt

For those of you who want to see picks against the spread, go elsewhere. For the rest of you.........

Florida International @ Arkansas – Time for a tune-up and rest-up for the starters before the final SEC push. The Pigs are probably out of contention for the West crown, but they can make things uncomfortable for the rest of the SEC, especially the Eastern teams. Arkansas by 40.

Mississippi State @ Kentucky – This is the “up” week for the ‘Cats. It will interesting to see if the MSU defense can slow down the high-powered Woodson offense. Probably not. Kentucky by 10.

Florida vs. Georgia – Dawg fans should take John Belushi’s advice from “Animal House” when getting ready for this game. “Start drinking heavily.” Florida by 25.

Mississippi @ Auburn – The Rebels appear to have packed it in for the season. After so many moral victories, the only remaining SEC game they will be competitive in is the Mississippi State game. Auburn 45-14.

South Carolina @ UTK – The Gamecocks have not scored a touchdown in 6 straight quarters. UTK’s semi-permeable defense should remedy that situation, but only outright gifts are going to be enough to allow the Chickens to outscore the Big Orange at home.

UTK by 3.

Miami (Ohio) @ Vanderbilt – Vandy SHOULD have little trouble with the Redhawks of Miami (O). Let’s just hope the Commodores are not looking ahead to the next three SEC games. This team seems to have gotten itself together after the disaster at Auburn and the disappointment with Georgia. VU defense should dominate this game, and the offense will find enough confidence to muster a lot more than the 201 yards garnered against SC. D. J. Moore may run back a kickoff. Vandy by 24.
