FACILITIES UPGRADES: August 10, 2008

With the first home game at Vanderbilt Stadium just a few weeks away, the first phase of improvements to the stadium are nearing completion. Whitney D. stopped by this weekend and shares these photos of the work in progress.

The view through the chain link fence that surrounds much of the stadium shows that most of the construction materials have been cleared out of the concourse at the southwest end of the stadium.

The new brick booth for the Vanderbilt Bookstore can be seen at the right of the photo. To the left, the columns supporting the stands are now adorned with photographs of Vanderbilt football players.

In addition to the facilities upgrade, Vanderbilt has just announced the opening of the "It's Good to Be Gold" website, featuring student athletes from all sports. An enlargement of the photo that graces the front page of itsgoodtobegold.com hangs from the girders in the concourse on the east side of the stadium next to Hawkins Field.
