Ranking the remaining opponents

It's an off week and 1/3 of the season is already over. The good news is that our No. 21 ranked Commodores are 4-0 and getting more attention than they've gotten in years. However, eight games remain and while the team will take them one at a time, lets take a quick look at what they will be facing down the road.
1)
Florida
- The 3-0 Gators pounded that school to the east on Saturday, 30-6. Tim Teebow isn't putting up Heisman type numbers this season but the Gators look like have a solid shot at winning another national title. Let's hope the Commodores can ruin their plans. Florida is 2nd nationally in scoring defense, 3rd in punt returns, 5th in total defense and 2nd in turnover margin.
2)
Georgia
- 4-0 Bulldogs looked great Saturday night at Arizona State. Georgia Southern is the only team that has scored more than 17 points on them and 14 of those came in the fourth quarter when the game was full of Bulldog reserves. Georgia is third nationally in rushing defense, allowing just 45 yards a game. They gave up 18 yards rushing to South Carolina.
3)
Auburn
- Tigers pounded Vandy last year at Auburn. A 3-2 win over Mississippi State highlights the Tiger season so far. In that game they gained over 350 yards total offense while limiting MSU to just 116 yards but managed to score only 1 more point than the Bulldogs.
4)
Wake Forest
- The 3-0 Demon Deacons might win the ACC this season. Vandy is playing a lot like Wake Forest, which is a good thing. The Deacons use a solid defense and create lots of turnovers. They also sport a very good special teams unit. The one major difference is that they pass (234 ypg) a lot more than
Vanderbilt
.
5)
Kentucky
- Imagine how good Kentucky (3-0) would be if they still had Andre Woodson. Kentucky has used a tough defense to get to a 3-0 record. The Wildcats absolutely dominated rival Louisville in their opener but recently barely escaped MTSU so the jury is still out on them.
6) Tennessee- The Vols blew their season opener with
UCLA
when they fumbled in the red zone. Florida spanked UT good on Saturday and the howling can be heard all the way in Nashville. Tennessee's secondary is outstanding like Vanderbilt's however the team doesn't play as a team.
7) Mississippi State- Bulldogs only win has come against Southeastern La. Ugly losses against Georgia Tech (38-7) and Louisiana Tech (22-14). After a bowl season in 2007 Sylvester Croom may be on the hot seat again in Starkville.
8)
Duke
- This is not the Duke your daddy knew. David Cutcliffe has brought some offense to Durham and the Blue Demons have already won more games this season (2) than in the previous three combined. These guys may be ranked last but they won't be an easy win.
