PETE’S PIGSKIN PROGNOSTICATIONS
Pete Fox (VM/Brent Wiseman)
By
Pete Fox
Posted Sep 26, 2008
As the Vanderbilt Commodores sit idly on the top of the SEC East standings, the SEC schedule has blessed us with two good games and 5 real dogs to watch this week
Week 4
(6-1 last week; 31-5 overall)
Let the games begin....
Arkansas
@
Texas
– Ike really put the Hogs in a tough situation, moving this game to this week and making them face a murderer’s row of
Alabama
, Texas,
Florida
, and
Auburn
on consecutive weekends. The Pigs lost the first of these contests by 35, and it doesn’t get any easier. Longhorns by 28.
Mississippi @ Florida – It will be interesting to see how the Rebels respond to the fact that they won the statistical battle against Vandy but lost the war. They might collapse, or they might suck it up and battle Florida to the wire. I vote for the middle way. Gators by 12
Western Kentucky
@
Kentucky
– How good are the Mildcats? We won’t find out watching this game. UK by 39.
Mississippi State
@
LSU
– Mississippi State is in free-fall after their wonderful season last year. LSU by 20.
UAB
@
South Carolina
– UAB is not very good, but neither are the Gamecocks. Can SC finally dominate someone? The Blazers are their last best chance. Chickens by 29.
Tennessee
@ Auburn – The Big Orange has shot itself in the foot so many times you have to wonder how many toes they have left. They certainly can’t count to 20 now, but they won’t need to against Auburn. Looking for a really ugly game here. Auburn 14 – UTK 6
Alabama @
Georgia
– Georgia has failed to impress me as being anything other than a run of the mill SEC team (still pretty good, but way overranked). Alabama is playing with fire in their eyes, and are on mission to reclaim past glory. Tide 23 – Dawgs 21.
Flames and comments will reach me (along with tons of spam) at pafx@yahoo.com
