FAYETTEVILLE-- The surging Vanderbilt Commodores continued their magnificent season turnaround on Saturday when they downed Arkansas, 13-6, to take their second consecutive conference series. Caleb Cotham struck out 12 and allowed just 5 hits in 7 innings. Vanderbilt batters piled on 14 hits including a homer by Steven Liddle to give the Razorbacks their first SEC series loss of the season.

VU 1st: Andrew Giobbi single.  Steven Liddle flies out. Giobbi steals second.  Curt Casali ground out.  Giobbi to third.  Westlake strikes out.

ARK 1st: Fly out to left.  Strike out.  Strike out.

VU 2nd: Jason Esposito walked.  Joe Loftus flies out.   Brian Harris lines out and then Esposito thrown out as he had broke for 2nd as Harris hit the ball. 

ARK 2nd: Fly out.  Fly out.  Walk. Strike out.

VU 3rd:  Need a run here.  Rily Reynolds grounds out.  Jonathan White single.  White steals third after a throwing error.  Giobbi scores White on a fielders choice.  Liddle homer to right.  2-0 VU!  Casali flies out.

ARK 3rd:  Ground out.   Strike out.  Strike out.

VU 4th: Aaron Westlake lines out.  Esposito base hit.  Loftus hits into double play.

ARK 4th: Fly out.  Strike out.  Ground out.

VU 5th: Harris walks.  Reynolds singles on hit and run.   Fielding error advances runners to 2nd and 3rd.  Reynolds actually faked a bunt and then reared back and knocked it into left field.  White strikes out.  Giobbi intentionally walked. Arky changes pitchers.  Liddle doubles and scores Harris and Reynolds. 4-0 VU!  Casali walks.  Westlake reaches on a throwing error, which scores 2 runs. 6-0 VU!  Esposito hit by pitch loading bases again.  Loftus base hit scoring Westlake and Casali.  8-0 VU!  Arky changes pitches.   Harris singles scores Esposito.  9-0 VU!  Reynolds scrifice bunt scores Loftus.  10-0 VU!  White base hit.  Harris scores.  11-0 VU!  White steals.  Giobbi grounds out.   Incredible inning for Vanderbilt, 9 runs. Nightmarish inning for the Hogs.

ARK 5th: Strike out.  Strike out.  Strike out.  Cotham has 9 Ks today.  Wow! what a classic inning for Commodore baseball. 

VU 6th: Liddle walks.  Casali flies out.  Westlake hits into double play.

ARK 6th: Home run (Eibner).  Home run (Cisterna). Strike out. Base hit.  Ground out, batter reaches runner out.  Two-run homer. Strike out.

VU 7th: Esposito flies out.  Loftus reaches on an error.  Harris hit by pitch.  Reynolds base hit scores Loftus.  12-4 VU!  White reaches on an error.  Harris scores, Reynolds out.  Giobbi lines out.  13-4 VU! 

ARK 7th: Cotham still pitching.  Strike out.  Line out.   Base hit.  Giobbi throws out base stealer at second to end the inning.

VU 8th: Liddle strikes out.  Casali flies out.  Westlake base hit.  Esposito flies out.

ARK 8th: Sean Bierman to pitch.  Fly out.   Walk.  Double play ends inning. 

Vanderbilt improves to 21-13, (7-7 SEC) and Arkansas falls to 24-8, (10-4 SEC).  Vanderbilt and Arkansas meet for game three of the series at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday (TV: None).
