Report: Corbin, Vandy target ASU coach

Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin is after Arizona State assistant coach Josh Holliday, according to a report on AZCentral.com. Corbin has been shopping for a replacement former assistant Erik Bakich, who recently left Vanderbilt to be the head coach at Maryland.

The report stated that ASU head coach Pat Murphy, "expects Holliday to accept a job with his friend Tim Corbin that would pay almost twice as much as Holliday made in his second season at ASU."

Holliday is considered one of the top recruiters in the nation. As recruiting coordinator for the Sun Devils he helped Arizona State land the No. 1 rated recruiting class according to Baseball America.

Holliday, who worked with ASU pitchers over the past season in addition to his recruiting position, previously coached three seasons at Georgia Tech and helped the Yellow Jackets to an ACC regular season title and tournament championship. He tutored Tech batters to a .333 average, good for fifth in the nation.

Holliday, the son of a college baseball coach, played his college ball at Oklahoma State where he earned All-Big 12 honors. His last season he batted .290 with 15 homers and was drafted by the Toronto Blue organization whom he played with for two years. He also had coaching stints at Oklahoma State and North Carolina State.
