Very Sorry for Your Loss
I'm a MSU fan and i just heard. I am so very sorry for the loss
of this young man, and will pray for the Vanderbilt Family
during these trying times. There are no words, that will take
away the pain of this loss, but if you lean on the Lord and put
your faith in him, you will get through this. Again, my deepest
sympathy and prayers to the entire VU Family and to the
family of Kwane. He will be truly missed.

Kwane Doster
being a fellow student athlete during the time kwane was there, i can honestly say he was one of the funniest and most humble people i have ever met. he always had a smile on his and was always making other people smile. this is such a great loss not only for his family, friends and Vanderbilt University, but for the Tampa/Florida community. It is always very dis-heartening when a kid who is trying to do everything the right way is tragically cut down the way Doster was. This sad news really has not set in yet, but i just want to send my condolences to his family, friends and especially to his little brother who i hear idolizes Kwane and wanted to be just like him. so may God bless his family and we will miss and always remeber you Kwane "Dot" Doster.

Re: Kwane Doster
Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

I was playing with my computer game last night, Vandy against whoever. Favorite play was running Kwane up the middle or around the end. Scored a lot of touchdowns with him. Now, I think it might be a while before I play that game again.

I am so very sad for him, his family and for those who knew him. It sounds like he was a great young man. Never mind the thrill of touchdowns; he won't get to experience the thrills of finding a job, raising a family, etc.

God bless everyone who reads this.

Thank you ...
...Kwane for sharing a part of your precious, albeit brief, life with us Vanderbilt people. You have touched more lives in a positive manner than you will ever know. Continue to be a Commodore and to watch over the Commodores for eternity. I, for one, celebrate your life.

Condolences from south of the border
This is a very, very sad day in the SEC with your loss & the loss of Reggie White.

Roll Tide.

While some students are asking for Lowder's resignation, Richardson danced around the question of whether Lowder should step down, saying that SACS holds Auburn to a higher standard than most colleges and universities in the South.

"The standard to which Auburn is being held is not consistent with other schools," Richardson said.

My prayers to all the players and families
all my prayers and thoughts for today go out to the Doster's and all the players. I know how hard it is to lose a teamate to death, and for no reason at all. It is such a hard time for this to happen, and we all will be praying for the players and families for many days to come.

Kwane Memories
Kwane was one of Bobby Johnson's first recruits. Someone who big time programs backed off after he sustained an injury his senior year. But someone Vanderbilt took a chance on.

I remember being at the Georgia Tech game and watching Kwane make some good returns in that game - his were some of the bright spots from an otherwise horrible game for Vanderbilt.

Later that season, I watched Kwane have a great game versus Georgia, rushing for over 130 yards. Despite the loss, I remember Coach Richt commenting on his weekly show that the young man Doster would be a special player in this league for years to come.

After winning SEC Freshman of the Year, he switched numbers from #40 to #1.

His second year, he took a great pitch from Cutler in the TCU game and took it to the house from 20 to 30 yards out.

His junior season, he scored our first TD of the season against USC. I loved watching him celebrate in the endzone.

Thanks for the memories Kwane, like Mark Richt said you will always be remembered as a special player. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

R.I.P. Kwane / I love you man!!

Today is the first day I have cried in some time.

I enjoyed watching you play Kwane. I never actually met you, but I was at Dudley for all of your home games. You were and still are my favorite player.

I feel just horrible. You will be missed but never forgotten.

May God bless and watch over your family and friends in this time.

Goodbye Kwane. I love you man.

God now has a great RB/return specialist and defensive lineman (Reggie) to play on his team now.

Beautiful message and from your heart. I graduated from VU before he came to the team, but as a four year scholarship female athlete I tried to keep in touch with every VU sports program. I’ve occasion to meet most of the current players and he touched everybody he knew and was a gregarious and affable young man in every sense of the word. He was handsome, intelligent, overcame prep injuries and as somebody said in another thread loved the little Commodore kid fans. This is one of the saddest days we have ever experienced. This loss effects some many and is so senseless and just wrong.

Memories of Kwane at Oxford
Anybody remember the spectacular game Kwane played at Ole Miss his freshman year? Wow!

Of course I don't have the specifics but I remember him having a monster rushing and kick-off return game. I remember him being so tired from carrying us...he couldn't quite complete the 90+ kick off return and settled on about an 85 yard return giving us excellent field position.

Another thing I remember about Kwane are his quotes in this years paper regarding his 'sophomore slump' and case of the fumbles. He DIDN'T gripe or blame anyone but himself...but was classy enough to admit that he didn't deserve PT since he couldn't hang on to the ball. Here is arguably the best talent we had at the time, a person who was voted previously as the best freshman of his class who had every opportunity to say, "Coach Johnson just doesn't like me...or I can't get good blocking...or you name the excuse..." but INSTEAD, he simply admitted that it was his fault and that he had worked hard in the offseason to correct it.

Thanks for the memories!

Re: Memories of Kwane at Oxford
He set an SEC record (I don't know if it still stands) for return yards in a game vs. OM in 02. Boy I'll miss him.

Kwane
This has been one tough day. Getting punched in the gut twice isn't easy (Kwane & Reggie White). This has to be one of the saddest days in the history of Vanderbilt football, and totally overshadowes the many "sad" days we've experienced at the stadium or in front of the TV. What success we did have these last 3 years can be owed to guys like Doster, who gave it what they had. I'll miss Kwane's demeanor at Fan's Day with the constant smile. I'll never forget how excited he was his sophomore year when I mentioned how much I liked his new number. I cried for the first time in a while today too and am not afraid to admit it. Saying goodbye to Kwane at Senior Day next season would have been hard enough, but this is beyond comparison. If we've ever wondered if the angels were on our side, now at least we have someone to plead our case. Thank you so much for your contribution Kwane, and our prayers are with your family and friends at this unbelievably difficult time.
