Thanks Vandy
Administrators
I would just like to express my appreciation that Chancellor Gee, David
Williams, and whoever else was involved stepped up and made sure the team could
get to the funeral.
I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but this is certainly a
time that as a student I'm glad we spent the cash to make it happen.

Re:Charter Plane to
funeral
Unfortunately the entire team will not get to go to Tampa for the funeral. They
must get themselves back to Nashville on their own dollar and then Vandy picks
up the transportation from here to Tampa. Many of our guys are scattered all
across the country and can not make it back here. It is against NCAA rules for
Vandy to pay their way back to campus, even in light of this tragedy. There
will be a memorial service on campus for the entire student body when classes
resume in January. GOD BLESS THE DOSTER FAMILY!

Once again, regulatory
hair-splitting triumphs over common sense. That said, having an on-campus
service once classes have resumed is probably safer than scrambling to get
everyone to Florida at one time.

Yeah, I
figured
Yeah, I figured some would not be able to go.. but enough live within driving
distance of Nashville that I would hope a fair amount are able to get back to
Nashville...
Also some probably live closer to Tampa than to Nashville
and it might make sense for some to go directly.
Obviously they won't
all be able to go, but none the less a class move by Vandy to provide the plane.

That very
thing...
got Alabama into trouble the first time they were on probation. The team plane
diverted on the way BACK from a game to a funeral, then back to T-town. That was
one of their violations.
Good Grief.

Re: That very

A few years ago I think it was against NCAA rules to even provide transportation
from the college like is being done here. Sort of like one of those arcane laws
against whistling in public that is still on the books in one city. Perhaps more
tragedies like this will bring some more enlightenment.
