Doster Trust Acct.
There is a trust acct being set up for the Doster family. As soon as the information is available, probably as early as today, we will let everyone know.
Thanks

i hope we never have to set one of these up again. This gets harder with every article and every detail that comes up. I hope everyone does what ever they can to help in this tough time. I have no doubt we as vandy fans will step up.

Re: Doster Trust Acct.
I will be disappointed if Vanderbilt officials do not step forward and facilitate the establishment of a major trust to fund Kwane's dream of a new home for his mother and the financial security of his siblings.

We cannot fill his place in the hearts of his family but we can replace a great deal of what he would have been able give his family financially after his graduation from Vanderbilt

This is a great opportunity to celebrate the fine example Kwane presented to his community,to show the sports world what Vanderbilt is all about and demonstrate how much we value our student athletes as treasured human resources rather than raw material to be exploited by today's football factories.

I believe that such a trust fund would not be a difficult mission given the resources of Vanderbilt University, its alumni. sidewalk alumni and others who would gladly participate.

Re: Doster Trust Acct.new info
I just called Mcgugin. They said the process is underway and information regarding the trust fund should be available soon. I think they may even have a couple of seperate funds. Hope this helps.

Kwane Doster
Just wanted to post condolences from a MSU fan. I took my son to the MSU-Vandy game in Starkville in 2003 and enjoyed watching Doster. I thought he was one of the better backs I have seen. Truly a great and tragic loss.

I'll second that, from a Sooner in Knoxville.

Thanks Vandy Administrators
I would just like to express my appreciation that Chancellor Gee, David Williams, and whoever else was involved stepped up and made sure the team could get to the funeral.

I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but this is certainly a time that as a student I'm glad we spent the cash to make it happen.

Re:Charter Plane to funeral
Unfortunately the entire team will not get to go to Tampa for the funeral. They must get themselves back to Nashville on their own dollar and then Vandy picks up the transportation from here to Tampa. Many of our guys are scattered all across the country and can not make it back here. It is against NCAA rules for Vandy to pay their way back to campus, even in light of this tragedy.
There will be a memorial service on campus for the entire student body when classes resume in January.
GOD BLESS THE DOSTER FAMILY!

Once again, regulatory hair-splitting triumphs over common sense. That said, having an on-campus service once classes have resumed is probably safer than scrambling to get everyone to Florida at one time.

Yeah, I figured
Yeah, I figured some would not be able to go.. but enough live within driving distance of Nashville that I would hope a fair amount are able to get back to Nashville...

Also some probably live closer to Tampa than to Nashville and it might make sense for some to go directly.

Obviously they won't all be able to go, but none the less a class move by Vandy to provide the plane.

That very thing...
got Alabama into trouble the first time they were on probation. The team plane diverted on the way BACK from a game to a funeral, then back to T-town. That was one of their violations.

Good Grief.

Re: That very thing...
A few years ago I think it was against NCAA rules to even provide transportation from the college like is being done here. Sort of like one of those arcane laws against whistling in public that is still on the books in one city. Perhaps more tragedies like this will bring some more enlightenment.

Re: Kwane died because of car smack
This is like two kids playing with toy cars and saying to each other, "Mine's better" so one pulls out a gun and shoots the other one.

Point is: A.) This was the most senseless, tragic, enraging way to slay a 21-year old kid and B.) Any little child could pull a trigger, but a grown 'man' sees fit to prove that he thinks his vehicle is better and, darn it, he's gonna do so. I hope he rots in prison with rats nibbling his guts out every night.
