let's endow a
Vanderbilt running back education trust...
Inspired by Doster...I'd be more than willing to contribute to a trust
fund that paid for a Vanderbilt football player's education...
Honestly?
I gave up on Kwane cause he fumbled so much...little did I know of his
outstanding achievements and the obstacles he overcame. And...I really admired
the fact that he was so positive after losing the starting position. 2004 vs
Eastern Ky: Doster won the game for us.
Next year with Cutler and
Doster? An excellent shot at a bowl. Maybe, the team can rally and go to a bowl
this year and do it for Kwane.
Finally...some of us Vanderbilt fans
(including myself) maybe should try and get to know our players better. I really
didn't know Kwane's background, where he was from and how much he was admired in
Tampa, Nashville and on the Vanderbilt campus.
I know now. I wish I had
known while he was still playing...

This good idea needs to move up the page.

A good
idea.
I would also donate what small amount of money I could to such an ednowed
scholarship. I would love to see "THe Kwane Doster Scholarship" awarded to one
running back every four years, as many endowed scholarships are given to our
scholar-athletes.
I hope that this idea takes off.

I'm in. Post the
details and pin them on this board. Or
send me a PM. I will gladly give in the memory of this young man.

I am in too.
Maybe we can make a powerful statement and give
the first scholly to his little brother. I have no idea if he is as good as
Kwane, but who cares. It wouldn't be about the football abilities. I read where
Kwane had two main goals in life... Play in the NFL and buy his mother a house.
If the endowment could provide Kwane's little brother with an education, he
could fulfil Kwane's dream.

Either that, or...
...we could establish a scholarship for a student, athlete or not, from
his high school (Robinson?) in Tampa. That way we could, as some have suggested,
possibly help out his little brother, and also assist future students who may
have an interest in Vanderbilt for athletic or academic reasons. I'm not opposed
to the original idea, but while we're at it, why not expand on it?

Re: Either that,

I agree with those that think a scholly should be funded in Kwame's
honor. To go to Robinson HS grads in Tampa--even if they don't go to Vandy. I
personally would love to see his younger brother Jermaine get a full
scholarship, regardless of whether he plays. I'm not the richest VU alum but I'd
donate as much as I could.

Good
ideas
I think an endowment honoring him that helps others is a good idea - if set up
at Vanderbilt best to do it through the development office, if at the local high
school through the office there - but let us all of us know to whom to
contribute
