Thoughts and prayers from a Nashville Reb
My wife and I just returned to Nashville late last night from Christmas with our families. We just learned of this horrible news today. Being huge SEC fans and so far away from our "home" in Oxford, we live SEC football through the Vandy media, so Vandy has found a place in our hearts. Watching the local news tonight was tough when they interviewed KD's "ride home" from the airport. I wish I caught his name, because it was obvious he was more than a ride home. He was a reliable friend and extended family member.

I remember being that age and how tough it was just to wash clothes, or get a good meal. My "family" away from home was/and still is, so important to me. My wife and I have been talking for the last hour and a half about our college days and the relationships we have lost, which is nothing like the Vandy players are having to deal with, but just a reminder of how much our friends have shaped our lives. I wish the players were together rather than on break. Bravo for the University stepping up and making sure KD's extended family will be there Friday. They will be forever grateful.

God's speed Vandy family.

Thanks --the Vandy family still mourns the loss of Chuckey Mullins so hard. It's times like this where going 2-9, 3-8, 4-7 and having a few heartbreaking losses are meaningless. Your kind words mean a lot.

rebel. I didnt see the news since I'm at home in Houston for xmas.. but I believe you are talking about Erik Davis since he mentioned driving him home from the airport in his press conference...one of the teams wide receivers.. he was apparently really close to davis and his family.. as were all the players I"m sure

Kwame's Family
If anyone wants to send condolensces his Mother, Harriet is listed in Anywho.com in the Tampa phonebook. I'm sure the family would appreciate some cards, tributes, and moral support from Vanderbilt folks--or fans of other schools. I'm still in shock and devasted by this loss.

Re: Kwane's Family
From what I have read the Doster family could probably use some financial support. There seems to be a large network of spiritual supporters, but there will still be bills to pay for the funeral arrangements, etc. Has there been a fund established to which we can contribute?

Re: Kwane's Family
Of course my idea of "moral support" includes financial help. It may take a few weeks to get such arrangements set up through the proper channels. I donate to the Commodore Club and expect news of a fund being set up soon. The legal red tape may take a bit of time.

Another Tiger prayer sent*
I am so sorry for the Doster's loss. I feel terrible that it happened here in tampa...which is really a nice place to live...it is a shame that life means so little to so many in this world. *Prayer sent*

How we can help
My dad said he heard on the radio that a former VU b-ball player whose name escapes me now is going to set up a fund to help pay for Kwane's funeral. They said to keep an eye on vucommodores.com for info when it is set in stone.
