Loss felt by so
many
This tragic loss to the Vanderbilt community has touched many hearts, including
my own. For those of us who only knew Kwane from his on field exploits there is
a tremendous sense of loss which pales in comparison to the pain of those closer
to him. All of our prayers and thoughts are with those closest to him.
My recollection of Kwane Doster will always be of his Freshman year when
he was forced into action as the result of injuries to the older players. Kwane
impressed us all with his talents and mental strength that year and was
deservedly named the SEC Freshman of the Year. By all accounts he was a great
leader and teammate who will be sorely missed.

02 Ole Miss
game
I'll never forget when he broke an SEC record vs. Ole Miss with 243 return
yards...and this is a school which boasted Lee Nally!

kwane was soooo much fun to watch over the three years I have watched him play.
I remember being in the stands vs. South Carolina his freshman year. Kwane
played a wonderful game and at the end, even though we lost, I left that game
feeling we had a great back to help us win in the future. I campaigned openly
for Kwane to return to his starting role this year and I cheered when he finally
did. I at the same time remember wishing we had two Kwane's one to return punts
and kickoffs and another to run the football. I along with many others had said
"I'm done"! many times over the course of the last few seasons but it was the
play of playmaking young men such as Kwane that kept us from totally abandoning
hope. We will miss you and we will not soon forget you Kwane.

So
sad
It's so sad to think that when everyone left for christmas break, they all
expected to see Kwane again, and now, they will never see him again. It just
shows you that nobody is promised tomorrow, so you need to live you life to the
fullest everyday.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Doster family,
this most be so hard for them. Maybe the football team can go out next season
and win some games for Kwane.

To the Doster
family...
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand and bless you with the peace that
passes all understanding. May you come to understand that His grace is
sufficient, even for an unspeakable tragedy such as this.

Re: My prayers are

I heard about it at work when i was listening to ESPN radio. Everything was
about Reggie White and then the announcer says that there is tragedy in the
world of pro and college football. I couldn't believe it! I kept listening but
they only said it the one time. So i raced home to see if it was on Vandymania.
Of course it was! Right on the front page. I hoped i was just having a
nightmare. GOD BLESS THE DOSTER FAMILY in their mourning! GOD comfort them in
their loss.

We will miss you
Khane
It has been almost 24 hours since I got this horrible news while visiting family
in AL. Words can express my sadness and the grief that I know is engulfing the
life of the family and friends of Khane. I just hope that my humble story offers
you some comfort. This past Spring, my wife, son, and I attended the DoreJam
on campus. My 9 year old son was really excited to be able to meet and get the
autographs of the Vandy football players that he had seen play last fall. We
moved to Tennessee from the Tampa area the previous year. My son immediately
spotted his favorite player and targeted him for securing a prized autograph. We
walked up to Khane and he smiled broadly and quickly signed my son's poster. My
son told him that we just moved from Tampa and the boyish smile grew broader. He
was talking with neighbors now. We talked with him for at least 5 minutes about
Tampa and the chances for our beloved Dores. We promised him if we had a winning
season that we would prefer our secret recipe ribs for him and the team. His
last words to us were "We're going to hold you to that". Well Khane, I'm going
to hold you to this- be the best RB that heaven has ever seen. God Bless
