Re: Post your
reminiscences / tributes to Kwane Doster below
As my Spiders are scheduled to play Vandy next season I had begun to pay
attention to the team. I was saddened by the loss of Kwanene. My thoughts and
prayers to the Doster and Vandy families.

Reminiscences
The thing I'll most remember is that Kwane ran kind of like Ahman Green of the
Packers, (my favorite running back, and my favorite team). He was patient and
let the hole open up, then he ran north and south. Yes, like Ahman he let a few
balls hit the ground.....but so what. None of this is important right now.
The most important thing that I can say is may God Bless Kwane and his
family. Almighty God in Heaven, please give the family, team and friends and
fans the strength to deal with this tragic loss.
Personally for me, it
was a difficult day to hear about the loss of two of my favorite players: Kwane
Doster and Reggie White. May they both rest in peace and enter into the Kingdom
of Heaven.

Re: Such sad
news.
I couldn't be sadder to hear this tragic news....my thoughts and prayers go out
to his family, friends, and the entire Vanderbilt nation.
I am a DUke
fan and we learned last summer how precious and short life can sometimes be when
we lost one of ours to a car accident. It is never easy, but it is so hard when
they are so young. My thoughts are with all of you.

Re: My prayers are
with the Doster Family!
My condolences to the Doster family and all the Vandy family. I'm an Auburn fan,
but this whole situation is just sick. Seems he was a great kid and I'm truly
sorry this has happened.

As a lifelong
follower of Vanderbilt athletics and
former editor of The Gold Page (1992), I come over here (from the Auburn
community) with the heaviest of hearts to grieve with you about the loss of one
great young man.
As with most of you here, for me too the news was
unbearable. Nearly every member of my Nashville family is a Vanderbilt grad, and
I have always kept a keen eye out for good things in Vandy athletics; so often
there has not been so much to cheer about. But Kwane Doster was something to
cheer about, on and off the field. And now some foolish kid has taken him away
from us. May God have mercy and let His Love hold firm those who most need it
now, especially Kwane's mother, family and friends.
I am so
sorry.

Echoing Dukester's
sentiments
Thanks to magnolialeague, I was able to read this site, and see the outpouring
of emotion towards this young man and his tragic circumstances. This hits close
to home, for me, because Kwane's birthday is five days after my own. As a 21
year old also, I can't help but be upset that his life ended so soon. I wish I
had heard about this kid before the incident, because he seems like an
outstanding young man, who was raised well. Unfortunately, his story was not
widely known, since Vanderbilt toils in college football obscurity,
unfortunately. I wish his family and the Vandy community nothing but the best in
during these times. Number 1 will be on my mind.

Re: God Bless You
Kwane
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Doster family in this time of sorrow and
loss. It is always hard to accept the loss of a loved one, but especially one
taken from us so very young. I didn't know this young man personally, but I have
seen him play against U.K. Please accept the deepest sympathy and condolences
from myself and my family. God Bless the Doster family, and Kwane's VU family as
well.

Re: God Bless You
Kwane
Prayers going up for the Kwane family and the Vandy nation. These days are
trying and I offer my prayers to ease the pain. Life was truely cut short for
this fine young man. What a sad day all over the world. I didn't think things
could get any worse after hearing of the earthquake in Asia (22,000 deaths as of
now)

Re: God Bless You
Kwane
I can't really say anything that hasn't been said before. I would just like to,
as a human, send my thoughts and prayers out to the family and friends of
Kwane.
Words can't do it justice, and can't explain any of it at this
point. From a member of the JMU family - I know that Madison will be thinking of
this young man.

That deceptive
shuffle.
I use to laugh at the way Kwane would shuffle off the fielf...with those little
shuffle steps. It seemed to take him forever while all the rest were running off
and on at full speed. It belied his quickness....just as this tragedy belies
what is important in our lives.
The board banter...the recruiting wish
lists... the coaching criticism... all are trivial when compared to the
realities of this event.
As I am sure it will for the team...I hope we
can grow closer from this tragedy. We all love our 'Dores and support them in
whatever ways we can. I am proud of the way we all are...when the real important
issues of life are before us.

Eulogy
poem
I Did Not Die author unknown
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I
am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am
the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the
gentle autumn's rain.
When you wake up to morning's hush I am the
swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars
that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there.
I did not die.
I predict sunlight, autumn rain, and winds for next
year's games. Kwane will be there watching and cheering his brothers on.

Gone but not
forgotten
Kwane will be missed by the Vanderbilt Family. We were blessed to be able to
know him and enjoy him in the short time he was with us and I want to thank his
family for sharing his with us.
I would like to see Vanderbilt
University step up and give Kwane beloved little brother a scholarship to attend
Vanderbilt and finish what His older brother started. I think that would be
a fitting remembrance of him to know that his little brother is taken care of in
the future and is given the opportunity that was cut short for our fallen
comrade.
