Re: Thank You

Below is a list of schools represented on the Vanderbilt Football board
expressing sympathy. Particularly, the SEC family has provided amazing support
for Vanderbilt, and a few other posters have schools have stepped up to
demonstrate their class and dignity by sharing their sincere condolences. I know
that these messages are appreciated.
Arkansas Tennessee Georgia
South Carolina Ole Miss Kentucky Florida Auburn Miss
State Alabama
Stanford Navy Air Force Arizona Miami
Oklahoma Texas Tech Oregon
JMU Richmond Duke Nebraska WVU William &
Mary USC Montana State Rutgers Oregon State Fresno
State Hawaii UVA Iowa State UCLA Oklahoma
State Idaho
On
Rivals: Iowa Rutgers LSU Michigan Oklamhoma
State UConn
On ESPN: Ohio State Ole
Miss Lsu Bama Arkansas UT
I will edit this list as I see
or am made aware of messages on Vandymania; nevertheless, I have seen several
posts away from our boards such as Furman, Tulane, Baylor, Eastern Kentucky,
etc. announcing the tragic event.

ML,
Good job by you acting as a diplomat for Vanderbilt around the
various college sports message boards. I've seen a lot of your notes on many
boards.
Thanks,
Don Yates

Re: Thank You
College Football Fan Nation
The world is a smaller place thanks to this technology, the scout, and the
people who make it function. College football fans around the country are so
terrific to have stopped for a moment and show concern for the Doster family,
the Vanderbilt football team, and Vanderbilt community.
Vanderbilt is a
special place. We are fortunate to be in a conference with such great fans, and
this is something I have learned over the past few months. There is a genuine
love for Vanderbilt around the conference and around college football. The
school is the ultimate underdog due to its academic requirements and it never
allows itself to fall prey to scandal.
Doster represented everything
that makes Vanderbilt great. He took the challenges of rigorous academics and
playing fo r a perenial football underdog head on. His determination to improve
his station and uplift his family only raises his stature as an admirable young
man. In the truest meaning of team, his teamates, coaches, fellow students, and
faculty were going to see to it that he would achieve the ultimate goal of each
student athlete; Doster was going to graduate with a Vanderbilt diploma. There
is no doubt about it.
Special thanks goes to 4timenatlchamps, who led the
way on notifying other boards of the tragedy immediately, and for keeping the
list of schools who paid tribute current.
All of these posters from the
visiting schools have taught me that although it might only take a moment to
drop a note, it truly does mean a lot. Look at the threads from Arkansas, South
Carolina, and Ole Miss and it speaks so highly about the class of the sportsfan
from those institutions. How many of us have stopped by other boards when a
tragic event occured elsewhere? I know that I have not, but I will be different
going forward and I hope if you wer like me that you will too. Hopefully all of
us will always remember the fans from all of these other schools who came to
comfort our community when we were down.
