Tell still high on Commodores

Vanderbilt faces steep competition in their efforts to pull Marvell Tell, who has been selected as an Army All-American, out of Southern California. Tell, a 6-foot-2, 187-pound free safety/wide receiver out of Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, Calif., tells that Vanderbilt is one of seven schools he's focusing on in the final stages of his recruiting.

Vandy bye week ideas

The Commodores have a Saturday off this weekend as the bye week strikes. The bye coming in the middle of the season is actually a pretty solid scheduling technique as it allows the team to heal up and refocus before the run begins to the end of the season with a trip to Columbia, Missouri next weekend.

SEC schools after Darvin

Jeremy Darvin received his first SEC offer just two weeks ago from Tennessee but is talking with several other programs including Vanderbilt. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman became a starter in his junior season at Father Ryan, a private, Roman Catholic high school in downtown Nashville, Tenn., just a few miles from the Vanderbilt campus.

2015 Vanderbilt football schedule released

Vanderbilt and SEC officials released the 2015 schedule today. Vanderbilt will open with three straight home games against Western Kentucky, Georgia and Austin Peay before embarking a three consecutive road games with. The Commodores will get a double dose of Texas teams by hosting Texas A&M while visiting Houston. Vandy will get a bye week after the fifth game. Look inside the full schedule.

Three Keys Revisited Vandy vs CSU

A game in which the ‘Dores rolled out to an 18-3 lead got unnecessarily close by the end as Vanderbilt squeaked out a 21-20 victory over Charleston Southern of the Big South. If you go by the mantra that a win is a win then this game will have pleased you greatly.

Vanderbilt offers local star

Rontavius Groves is the latest Nashville junior to have received an offer from the Vanderbilt coaching staff. The exciting 5-foot-11, 160-pound athlete received his first offer from Kentucky after his third game of the season at Pearl-Cohn High School. Tennessee was the next to offer not long afterward. Groves spoke with on the early stages of his recruiting process.

New SEC offer or Marshall

Vanderbilt seems to be eager to add another running back to the Class of 2015. This week they reached out to Marcus Marshall out of Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C. and told him he had an offer. Marshall told while the offer wasn't quite unexpected, it did come "out of the blue" and has him adding Nashville as one of his official visit destinations.
