Last week was quite a week for Jensen Lewis, a right-handed pitcher from Cincinnati-Anderson High School who signed a baseball letter-of-intent with Vanderbilt last November.

Last week was quite a week for Jensen Lewis, a right-handed pitcher from Cincinnati-Anderson High School who signed a letter-of-intent with Vanderbilt last November.

On Thursday, Lewis was named Gatorade Player of the Year as the top player in the state of Ohio.

On Saturday, Lewis pitched Anderson to a 10-7 win over Dayton-Carroll in the Ohio Division I district championship game. The win puts Anderson (21-5) in the regional tournament for the first time in school history.

Lewis allowed three early runs to Carroll before his team rallied for the victory. ''I guess I made it a little too interesting,'' Lewis told the Cincinnati Post. ''We threw too many fastballs (to start). "I threw my change-up a lot more and got them off-balance. It was just re-evaluating how we went about getting them out.''

Lewis will most likely be taken in the major league baseball draft next week, and if so will face a decision between a Vanderbilt education and a quick entry into the majors.
