Biography:
He’s a whisker behind C.J. Leak entering preseason drills but hopes to win the first-team quarterback job with a strong showing in August. Though lacking Leak’s big-time arm, Clausen plays within himself and makes relatively few mental mistakes, thereby endearing himself to UT’s coaches. His older brother, Casey, was Tennessee’s starting quarterback the past four years. 2003: Sat out as a transfer from LSU. 2002: Played in three games for LSU as a sophomore, including a start against Ole Miss. For the year he completed 5 of 12 passes for 35 yards, with 0 touchdowns and 1 interception. 2001: Redshirted. HIGH SCHOOL: Earned All-America recognition from Blue Chip Illustrated, Prep Star and SuperPrep after completing 264 of 430 passes for 3,361 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior, guiding his team to a 10-3 record and a berth in the state playoffs.
