| Brandon is a key player for Coach Buzz Peterson going into his sophmore season. Crump started 19 games as a redshirt freshman and played in 11 more. His 59.4 field goal percentage led the Tennessee team and all SEC freshmen last season. Ranked in a tie for second on the team with 56 offensive rebounds. Averaged 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in SEC games. Brandon took over when a knee injury ended the season of teammate Ron Slay. Crump started 13 of Tennessee’s last 15 games. In two SEC Tournament games he averaged 9.5 points, including 11 points against Arkansas in the first round. Crump was 6-of-9 from the field to score 12 points along with seven rebounds and three assists against Middle Tennessee State. Recorded four points and seven rebounds, including a career-high four offensive boards against eighth-ranked Syracuse. Had eight points on 4-of-5 shooting in 11 minutes of action at Mississippi State (1/16/02). Against Louisville he had 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go with five rebounds, one of his best performances. Earned his first career start against Marquette at the Great Alaska Shootout. Averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds at the three-game tournament. He came off the bench to score 12 points and grab four rebounds against Tennessee Tech. Brandon spent the 2000-01 season as a redshirt while adding bulk to his frame.
During his high school basketball career, he was a first team all-state selection as a senior. Averaged 15.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game as a senior at Klein High School. Shot 53 percent from the field, 44 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free throw line. Led Klein to a 24-9 overall record as a senior. As a senior he was ranked as the 58th-best high school senior in the nation. Crump was ranked as one of the top 100 high school seniors in the nation by CBS SportsLine.com. Rated as one of the top 100 high school seniors in the nation by FoxSports.com. Named the MVP of the THBC All-Star game. During his junior year, he averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 3.5 blocks, and 3 steals per game. Led Klein HS to a district championship as a junior. Coached by Glenn Arnold.
