If I had to choose an all-time favorite player, my "short list" would be pretty darned long. Choosing just one would be an extremely difficult task, because each one of them is so unique. How do you compare Jenni Benningfield and Jen Risper, Ashley Mac or Ashley Earley? The list goes on and on.
Jasmine Lister is becoming another one of those legendary players. Our goose last night would have been thoroughly cooked without her. The team was shaky. After the last game, someone said called the team's performance "ragged", which I think is a good word to apply to last night's game as well.
Lipscomb played what coach called a "sagging man", with two or three players collapsing on the post, daring the 3-point shooters to shoot. After we missed a few, the misses got contagious. But Jas stepped up time after time, making shots, no matter how tense the game became (and it got pretty darned tense).
She ended up playing 38 minutes, something I didn't foresee for this year's team. But with Stephanie out, even though we have guards available, it's possible that her leadership and mental toughness on the court just may be irreplaceable.
I think she's pretty darned amazing.
